??Stones hold an irreplaceable position in both the practical life and spiritual world of Chinese people. The Orient believes that there is a source of life originating and growing from stones. Stones symbolize an ancient medium, while water evokes feelings of tranquility and transcendence.

??Under the guidance and support of the Cultural Section of the Chinese Embassy in the United Kingdom, the Chinese Quanzhou Pavilion at the 2024 London Craft Week will present the exhibition "Maritime Silk Road Resonance: Stone Chronicles." It will open on May 15th, 2024, at OXO TOWER WHARF | OXO GALLERY, a significant cultural center on the south bank of the River Thames in London. This journey begins in Quanzhou—a city that marks the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road and is also a world-renowned city of intangible cultural heritage. It thrives by the sea, nurturing unique maritime culture and local craft traditions.

At the invitation of the sea, artisans, artists, designers, and local cultural institutions from Quanzhou, Xiamen, Guangzhou, and other southern Chinese cities will collaborate to explore the cultural dimensions behind materials, craftsmanship, and local memories, starting from a stone and following the "stone's thinking." They will also attempt to explore the history, humanities, local knowledge, craft traditions, fisherwomen culture, and the future of sustainable living along the Maritime Silk Road through this medium of "stones."

During the exhibition, there will also be a unique performance of Nanyin music in London. Through over a dozen classic Nanyin pieces, the "wind" from Quanzhou, a city in southern China (known as the City of Barringtonia), will be brought to London, UK.

"Maritime Silk Road Resonance: Stone Chronicles" will participate in a press conference held by the Cultural Section of the Chinese Embassy in the United Kingdom in London on May 8th, 2024!

At this year's edition of RAD Design, Atelier V&F presents the project Revelation of Gaia, showcasing The Raw Bench - dinamically coated in soft goat fleece, reminiscent of both a shifting glacier and a tranquil resting animal. This piece embodies Atelier V&F's commitment to non-utilitarian beauty and emotional depth.

“Ten Years: 2014-2023 The Ongoing Progress of Design in China” is a book presented by Design Shanghai in collaboration with magazine into. 

Over the past decade, China's design industry has entered a vibrant and flourishing period of expression. This book, based on a 10-year timeline, interviews representative domestic and foreign designers, brand founders, and practitioners. They share their recent endeavors in this field, collectively representing the essence of China's design industry over the past decade. 

Chen Furong Office is featured in this collection, exploring the transition from in-depth brand establishment to more freeform artistic creation.

From March 8 to 12, Objective Gallery is honored to present a group show with Merging Tables and Raw Mirror from ATELIER V&F and other art/design works by emerging artists at this year's Design Miami/ Podium x Shanghai in Zhangyuan. 

Objective Gallery participated in the "ART021" 2022 Art and Design Fair with the new collection "The Crack in Chaos" of Atelier V&F at the Shanghai Exhibition Center from November 10th to November 13th, 2022.

Design Anthology's new tome is available in a deluxe format exclusively from Design Anthology — in a hand-numbered edition with a limited run of just 500 copies, enveloped in a refined slipcase.

Pre-orders are now open, for delivery on publication in April. The book will also be available in a smaller-format edition through retailers in 2020.

This year’s selection process included five young designers selected by members of the Rising Talents Awards Jury, and one young designer selected via a Call For Entry. Frank Chou, Chen Furong, Mario Tsai, Hongjie Yang, Ximi Li and Bentu rank as some of the brightest young design powers in the country today.

Exemplifying talent, emotional depth and creativity, these six designers bring innovation and energy to their work. Some prefer a China-centric approach, others have absorbed multicultural influences by studying, working and living abroad. But all are committed to forming a new Chinese language of design. Says Jury Member Lyndon Neri of Neri&Hu: “With the rapid growth of the Chinese economy and the need for a cultural expression of its own, we see a large number of emerging designers that have started to create their own voice that deals with issue of heritage and identity.”

Whilst their styles might diverge, one thing is clear: these six talents are setting new standards, whilst balancing creative versus commercial demands. “China has, for many years now, been the world’s in-dustry supply chain leader and is fast turning into a hotbed for design opportunity for both local and global designers,” says Luca Nichetto.

“Chinese designers are realising the power of their own proximity to an established manufacturing base, and are taking full advantage of it.”

Chen Furong founded WUU in 2014, the same year as Design Shanghai, grows up with it.

The year 2019 marked the fifth year of WUU’s journey in Design Shanghai. To some extent, it is through the platform Design Shanghai offered, WUU marched into the field of original design. In 2015, Chen Furong, founder of WUU won the first Emerging Chinese Designer award given by Design Shanghai in partnership with AD China. In 2016, WUU published its research results on cement in Design Shanghai. In 2017, WUU launched its first lamp collection— the T Series—and won the IDEAT Future Award given by IDEAT. In 2018, WUU adopted the slogan of “A Sense of Timelessness” and won the year’s Design Shanghai Picks with the romantic collection, the STARGAZER. Design Shanghai is a significant witness of WUU’s changes and developments towards maturity.

In 2019, with the much roomier booth of 39 square meters, WUU is able to exhibit all its works, to better demonstrate and introduce itself, and to launch its new furniture collection.

With the launch of furniture collection in Design Shanghai, WUU’s product line is greatly diversified.

For the first time, WUU took up the work of design and construction of the exhibition booth, painted it in bright colors and divided it into separate scenes for the best demonstration of different products, giving the audience a varied experience and presenting them WUU’s aesthetics and graphic language.

From 2015 to 2018, WUU started its journey with the design of household necessity and launched the practical T Series Lamps and the more romantic STARGAZER to gradually enrich the product line of lamps. But since the day it founded, furniture design has always been the direction WUU is working on to take. Through these years of research and development, WUU finally made its first step towards furniture design in 2018.
