Before 「The Crack in Chaos」, Atelier V&F conceived an imagination of primordial rawness in 「Revelation of Gaia」. Gaia is the earth goddess of Greek mythology, born of the chaos, to be the mother of gods and the origin of all creatures. Characterized by the untamable fleece, the several pieces of the collection all demonstrate a raw vitality and a wild power. Based on this collection as the prelude, Atelier V&F is working to expand it into a majestic play, with the first act tracing back to the time before the birth of Gaia, to the start of everything, to the abyss cloaked with mysterious fog.

Hesiod, the Greek poet named the dark space before the birth of universe Chaos in Theogony. Chaos, the complete disorder and confusion, is neither visible nor tangible. Personified by classical writers, it became the genderless god of primordial nature. As what is said in the Tao Te Ching,「there is a chaotic oneness before the birth of the universe」, and also in the Taoist creation philosophy, it is believed that before the universe came into being, it is a soundless, shapeless and nameless oneness. It is the darkest of all darkness and the stillest of all silence. Aimless and orderless, but filled with inexhaustible energy, it is exactly what Atelier V&F feels about the mysterious stage before a design takes shape.

With「Darkness」,「Disorder」,「Primordial Rawness」and「Birth」as the keywords, the first act of this grand play is born.「The Crack in Chaos」is the moment when the shaft of light bursts out of the split of darkness that is the birth of universe and with it, space and concepts. The several pieces of the collection continued「The Revelation of Gaia」’s application of fleece. And with the use of the old casting technique and the futuristic mirror metal, the collection brings out the moment when the ancient touches the future.

Fleece and metal, casting and mirror techniques contrast each other and reappear repeatedly, like harmony in polyphony. Disorderly and frightening darkness, the immense power of the split of sky and earth, the rawness and richness of primordial earth, and the warmth and power of life are the intertwined and merging themes that together constitute the highly emotional「The Crack in Chaos」. Thereafter, everything is born, and civilizations are to come.
